These are a few of my favourite things: Febuary Ed.

Hey hi Hello!
This last month I haven't really been trying anything new, I've stuck to my usual routine and kept using the same products, I have managed to find a few I've been loving though.

A few weeks ago I posted a Dainty Doll haul and this was one of the purchases. It's a gorgeous blusher in the shade 'Hippie Shake'. It's a very light pink/ lilac colour which I really think it looks good on my skin. It gives a light colour, just what I look for in a blush. It seems to last all day and it's perfect for spring.

Another Dainty Doll product is this eyeshadow in 'Are you Experienced'. It's a lovely taupe brown colour with shimmer. I used this in my Bedroom Beauty post as a smoky eye and I think I'll get a lot of wear out of it. It's not majorly powdery but there is a little fall down, it lasts all day though so no complaints here.

A blue eyeliner! After my blue eyes post I decided I really love blue under the eye, for travelling I didn't want to be carrying by maybelline colour tattoo, a blue shadow and a brush, I bought this! I really love the colour, it stays all day and it wasn't too expensive either.

Finally, I splashed out a bit on this because I've been looking for a varnish this colour for ages! To see swatches and nail designs using this, look at my other blog here. It's such a lovely colour and I'm so excited to own this!

There we go! Not a massive amount but all very good products!
What are you guys loving right now?

A little Holiday Haul!

Hello!

So as you may know I've been away for a few days, I finally managed to collect together what I bought so that I can show you my purchases!

First up is this brilliantly bright yellow crop top. I never ever wear bright colours but this just stood out to me. I thought it would look nice in Summer, if the sun ever decided to come out, with a black skater skirt. It's so Purdy. This was £8 from Republic.

Also for republic, I really can't remember the price, but I know everything had 20% off. This is like a khaki gray colour with gorgeous stitched roses and studs. It also has a matching rose and stud design on the back. So pretty!

Next up is this amazing keyring from evolution for £2.50. If you didn't know already I have a sugar skull obsession. There was loads of skull trinket boxes and such but I have nowhere to put them so I didn't buy them. This was super cool though, and a bargain! Why isn't there a evolution in Newcastle?!

It's jumper with T-Rex's on it! Me and my friends have dinosaur related inside jokes and this made me smile. It's pretty thin wool material so it will be nice thrown on with shorts in summer or with a shirt underneath for winter! This was from Zara for £20

Finally I found some ankle boots! Eeeeeeee so pretty. I've been after boots like these for ages but I have baby feet so they were always either too big, too expensive or I had to buy online, which I didn't want to do. I fianlly found these in Milton Keynes H&M for £24.99. They're fairly comfortable, I've only worn them once but they were fine to walk in and such. I adore the little details of the suade snakesshin and gold zip on the sides. Favourite purchase of the year so far!

Febuary Bedroom Beauty Challenge~

Hey Hi Hello!

If you haven't seen the Bedroom Beauty Challenge over on Louise's blog, that's Sprinkle of Glitter for all you people living under rocks, you should so totally go check it out right here! I took part last month and now it's time for my second look based around the theme of 'Love'.

I figured for love I would do something slightly sexy but not over the top, I went for a brown beige smoky eye and orange lip. I also wanted to use products I love but sometimes neglect in favour of other ones, the challenge is all about stepping out of your comfort zone and experimenting so this is what I did!

Here we go, I'm sorry for the state of my brows, I need to buy some new tweezers, mine keep getting lost. I used dainty doll eyeshadow in the number 2 along with the colour faint from the Urban Decay naked Basics Pallette. My Dainty Doll shadow is a fairly new purchase but this was only my second time using it, I tend to shy away from any shadows that have glitter in but this is a stunning colour!

I've been stuck in a rut of using very nude and plain eyeshadows but using lots of eyeliner, this is dramatic but quite stylish and romantic, a lot more subtle than a black or navy eye.

The foundation I used was my Gosh natural touch which always used to be my favourite, it's very much a re-discovery for me and I love how it looks on my skin. The one I used is very old so I'm going off to Superdrug to repurchase a new one. The cheeks I went pretty simple using Accesorize baked blush, it's very pale but gives a nice glow to it without it being a glitter ball.

And on the lips I used Abstract Orane from Revlon, again a very old favourite of mine. I used Illamasqua gloss in 'Temper' over the top for a nice shiny shiny finish.

I am aware this ast picture is blurry but it was my favourite one out of the ones I took. I never think my eyes are so blue until I see them in a photograph. Also yes, I am obsessed with this hat, no, I don't sleep in it.

I hope you liked this interpretation!
If you've taken part feel free to leave your links below and I'll pop over to have a neb!

A little holiday in review.

Hello!

I'm back from Bedford! I had a great time with family over the last few days but it's good to be home in lovely snowy Newcastle and back in my comfy bed. I didn't really take any pictures, apart from the few on my instagram, but the ones I do I have, I will share!

From Newcastle to Bedford it usually takes around four hours, on this particular journey though, it took 6 and a half hours. I was ready to pull my hair out. Once we got there it was around 10pm and we couldn't be bothered to do anything so we played Spore until around 12, and then loads the next day! It's such a good game which my brother owned years ago. It was nice just to chill and spend time with each other for a while.
On the Thursday we visited Milton Keynes for a shopping day, I did get a few awesome things, I'll do a haul soon enough! After a few hours of browzing we headed to my favourite place in the world... Costa! I love the strawberry Lemonade there, it's really refreshing and yummy, even though we were freezing this was my beverage of choice! After this we headed back to my Aunties house and ate cake and played monopoly. It was the most I've laughed all year, so many jokes and so much cheating that I was crying and had stomach cramp. That's the best way to spend an evening right?

This was just a poster my family had up in their guest bedroom, they have an obsession with all things to do with New York and America in general. It's not usually my thing, but now I really want to own this for myself. Look at how cute King Kong is!

I was attempting to take a picture of my outfit for the Friday but no matter how close or far away I was to the mirror it would look blue. I deemed by self 'The Creature of the Deep Blue', because I am in act a totally normal person. Despite knowing I would be walking around in the cold I decided to wear a skater skirt to walk around Cambridge, Geordies don't get cold!

A quick sneak peek and a top that I bought in Milton Keynes. In Cambridge we went for a quick dinner at a small underground place called Carringtons where I had the best shepards pie I have ever tasted in my life! I love homely British food like that, it's my favourite! After stuffing our faces my sister, my cousin and I decided to head off and tackle the shops, I didn't buy much but it was a still a good day! Of course we ended the day at another Coffee place, this time Starbucks, which, I don't really like that much. I did however pick up a chocolate and hazelnut slice and Caramel cream Frappe, if you hadn't gathered already, I don't like Coffee.

There we go, my holiday in review! It was great fun and I love seeing my family. A haul should be up soon with the things I bought. What have you guys been up to recently?

Illamasqua Temper Intense Lipgloss review~

Hello!
A few days ago I placed my first ever Illamasqua order, I've never owned any of there products before. I was desperate from the perfect lime nail varnish and finally found one on their webiste, I talk about it on my other blog here. While looking through their website I came acrodd a lipgloss and instantly fell in love.
This particular lipgloss is called 'Temper' and is very highly pigmented and described on the website as a bright, tangerine orange. I've never been one for orange on the lips, or a fan of lipgloss to be honest, but that has now changed.

I wouldn't say that it is an orange-y orange, if you get what I mean, it's more on the red side, which I adore.  It's so highly pigmented there's no need to wear lipstick or liner underneath at all.
This isn't the best picture, I know, but it's simply to get an idea of how it looks on the lips. It's a bold colour and I think it's going to be perfect for the summer months. The lasting time is pretty good, it is best to reapply after eating but the colour is still there and still fairly bright. The time between eating you don't have to worry about fading, it stays super bright and super glossy for around 3 1/2 - 4 hours which is awesome.
Have you guys tried this lipgloss or any other Illamasqua products? What are your thoughts?
Amy xx
P.S: I'm not currently at home, I'm visitng family in the south of England, apologies if posts are few and far between, I'm simply publishing posts from my drafts from my phone. I'll try to respond to comments when I get the time. Have a great day!

A febuary Wishlist.

Hey Hi hello!

I've seen a couple of wishlists floating around and decided to compile my own of a few things I've been lusting after.

First let's talk make-up. After my purchase of the intense lipgloss in Temper I've been lusting after Belladonna. It looks like an amazing pinky plum shade, right up my Alley. Next up YSL shocking, after FleurDeForce talked about this it has been on my wishlist, it seems I have a thing for high-end mascaras right now. Finally, Urban Decay Naked Palette, do I need a reason other that it's goreously amazing? After buying the basics eyeshadows I've realized what the fuss is all about and i'm guessing the quality is worth the money.

Next up clothes! I've really been after a pair of ankle boots recently but I can't find any anywhere. I found those ones on the Chocker website and they're so cute. This lazy Oaf skater dress includes everything I adore, skulls, skater, monochrome, unfortunetly the £65 price-tag isn't something I can justify, guess I'll have to deal without it for now. Finally on my list is this amazing Vivienne Westwood shirt for £20, not actually her brand, but from a store on Etsy. I'm just obsessed with it!

What are you lsting after? Make sure to tell me in the comments!

An Evening Pamper Session.

Hey Hi Hello!

So today I figured to have a little pamper session, with a face mask and awesome bath, just to relax for half an hour. I figured I'd take you through the things I used.

So first off I remove any make up with my simple Eye make-up remover, it seems really refreshing on the skin and I just love it. I sometimes have problems with remover hurting my eyes and giving me a rash, but this one is great. Then I apply my mud therapy raspberry mask. It has kernals in it which in turn helps to exfoliate the skin.

I ran a bath using a lush bubble bar and hopped in, keeping on the mask while I was in there. Cleared my mind and just relaxed for around twenty minutes. After the bath I wash off the mask, exfoliate using my St Ives scrub and then shower.

I don't like doing my hair in the bath so I get a quick shower. As usual I used my  TRESemme colour thrive for blondes on my hair and my favourite shower gel, Ponche from Lush, which is unfortunetly been discontinued and won't be coming back this Christmas.

Finally I used my favourite night moisurizer, the garnier Moisure match from dry-very dry skin. The reason for it being my night cream is that it's very thick and takes ages to sink into the skin, so it wouldn't work well under my make-up.

There we go, finished! Relax with a book or some music before going to bed!

What's your routine?

A not so dainty, dainty doll haul!

Hey Hi Hello!
In Newcastle we have a little cart stall in the middle of Eldon Square, the main shopping mall, and also one in the Metro Centre in Gateshead called Making Faces. I'm not sure if there are more scattered around malls in Britian but I adore it so much! It sells tons of make-up products from well known bands for about half of the price, it's where I have bought Essie nail varnishes for £1.99 before. The last time I went for a cheeky look at what they had to offer I found a massive selection of Daity Doll goodies!
Dainty Doll is a make-up brand created by Nicola Roberts of Girls Aloud, it's aimed at people with a very pale complexion, which makes it an amazing brand already in my eyes. I ended up not picking up a foundation because they only had a powder one, no good for dry skin, but I did pick up some amazing things.

The packaging is simply gorgeous and it translates out of the box, the inside packaging is plain black but still very chic and simple which I love, the bottom picture was just to show the AMAZING prices I got them for. After this little spree I went back and got a couple more things because Iloved them so much!
I will review a few of the items another day, because I don't want this post to be massive! I will however talk about the blush I bought in the shade 'Hippie Shake'
I couldn't get a good photo to reflect the colour so I borrowed this image from lookfantastic.com. I would say that in real life it looks more lilac than pink, which is something I haven't really come across. It adds a little colour to the cheeks without being too heavy and I have been wearing it pretty much everyday. I think the colour looks good on my skin and isn't at all bright, which I much prefer, I don't tend to like bight colours on my cheeks. It seems to last a good few hours before rubbing off, so an absolute steal for the price I got it for!
I also bought:
Concealer: Very light
Lipstick: Storm in a teacup
Eyeshadow: copacabana
Eyeshadow: Are you Experienced?
Cream blush: Paper Roses
Eyeliner: I'm so pretty
Blusher: Money Talks
Have you guys tried any DD products, if yes, what did you think?

DIY: SugarSkull Hairclip ~

Hey hi hello!

I managed to find the lead for my camera so we're back in business, until I lose it again. One thing I love to do is craft and make things, even if I'm not brilliant at it. So,  with clay and paint in hand, I went about making my own sugarskull hairclip.

Warning this post may be picture heavy.

The above picture shows the finished products, I know, nowhere near perfect, but I still think they're super cute and will wear one with pretty much anything.

You shall need!

~ Clay (I used air hardering but you can use any!)
~Acrylic Paints in colours of your choice
~Paint brushes in different sizes
~A cuticle stick and dotting tool (or bobby pin and very fine brush)
~Scissors
~paper
~ pen
~Clear nail varnish

Let's start!

Start off by drawing out a general shape, cutting it out and laying it over your flattened clay. If you're stuck on a shape think of a Mario mushroom, but slightly deformed... I'm also sure there are templates online you can print.

Cut out the shape around the template and use your hands to mold it and perfect it to how you want. If there are any cracks use a little bit of water on your fingertips and smooth them out.

Use your thumbs and press into the clay to make the eye shape. Use a toothpick to  create an upside down heart as a nose, and a thin line where the teeth will start out. After this wait for it to harden before painting it a colour of your choice.

Next up, fill in the center of the eyes and then use a toothpick to draw small hoops around them. Fill in the nose and add lines to the mouth.

Finally, add finishing touches. You can find plenty of inspiration on google. Finish off with a clear top coat to make it shiny and slightly more protected before using superglue to attach a kirby grip/ bobby pin.

Tada! You're done! A superfun project, make tiny ones and turn then into earrings, or anything you want really!

Hooe you liked this! Think I should do more?

Thursday 14 February 2013

Hey hi hello!

Today I figured I'd do this tag, I'll be stealing/borrowing pictures from the boots or superdrug websites because my camera lead has gone walk-about and I know I'm going to find it somewhere really dumb in the next few days. I really like this tag, as some-one who basically buys all of her make-up from the highstreet, i find it interesting to see what products people are loving.

1. What is your favorite drugstore makeup brand overall?

Easy peasy lemon squeezy! Revlon. For sure. Lately their new releases have been amazing, I love their foundation, lipsticks, eyeliners. Pretty much everything they release I want to own. I have to say Rimmel are also a pretty amazing brand.

2. What are your favorite face, cheek and lip products?

First up, Revlon colourstay foundation. I love this foundation for the colour more than anything, it's the only foundation I've found that perfectly matches my paler than pale skin.  I tend to mix it with some moisturiser to make it more lightweight but apart from that I love it.

Cheek product has to be, hands down, the rimmel blush in Santa Rose, also a favourite of the amazing Essie Button. It's the perfect colour for me, I don't like anything overly bright or pink on the cheeks. It doesn't have much shimmer at all which I love. I use it with a light touch up the hceek bones to contour slightly. I love love love it!

Lip product wise I couldn't pinpoint the exact colour, so I went for a brand. Again it's revlon. The lipsticks last a nice amount of time and there are an amazing range of colours for a decent price. I love the colours 'Cherries in the Snow' and 'Abstract Orange'.

3. Least favorite product?

The MUA 3 in 1 products. They looked so promising with amazing colours and for a great price. They are useless, they last a whole two seconds before rubbing off. Even for £1 they are not worth paying for at all.

4. What is the best makeup bargain?

5. What is your favorite underdog product? (Something you love that often gets overlooked?)

For these two questions the answer is the exact same. The MUA eyeshadow primer which is £2.50.  It is honestly my favourite product in the entire world and I don't go a day without using it. I have oily lids and honesty, using this the eyeshadow barely budges. It has been compared to the Urban Decay primer potion, and honestly I wouldn't fork out the money to buy that when I have this glorious item.

6. A drugstore product that is overpriced?
I think the No7 range in general is overpriced, I only ever buy from them unless I have a boots voucher. Also, despite my love for it, I also think the revlon foundation is overpriced.

7. Show your best drugstore dupe?

As previously mentioned the MUA and Urban decay primers are both meant to be very good, but one is over £15 more expensive than the other.

I would also say that the Sleek Respect Palette has four or five very similar colours to the Naked Basics Palette from Urban Decay.

8. Drugstore product that isn't worth the hype?
I'm not keen on the Revlon Lip Butters, I prefer a much more solid wash of colour so the lip butters just aren't for me. I find the colours wash off the lips pretty quickly too. That's just personal preference though.

Have you guys tried any of these products? What do you think?

25 random facts about me!

Hey hi hello!
Today is a random post from my phone without pictures because I'm feeling rather ill.

I haven't been tagged to do this but I wanted to anyway! So here we go, 35 facts about me.

1. I am the eldest child in my family, I am also the shortest at only 5'1.

2. I'm in my final year of my University course at Nothumbria, studying English Language.

3. I have been working at the same clothes store for two and a half years.

4. I have an addiction to Disney/ Pixar films. My favourites being Monsters inc, Lilo and Stitch and The little Mermaid.

5. I also have a nail art blog called Nevereverland Nails. My room always smells like polish or Acetone because of this.

6. I'm blind in one eye and have been since birth, I still have better eyesight than half of my family though.

7. I really want to visit Italy, Hawaii or America.

8. A lot of people find it hard to understand what I'm saying, especially if not from England, because of my Geordie accent. (Geordie is the accent of Newcastle upon Tyne. Think Cheryl Cole.)

9. I have an obsession with Tim Burton films and everything about him. I find real inspiration from the things he does.

10. My mum wanted me to be called Cate but my dad didn't like the name. I really wish he had let her decide that name though. Then I would just get everyone to call me Cat.

11. I love to read, I constantly have books in my bag and a billion in my bedroom. I recently gave loads of books away to charity and still have more than the average amount...

12. I hate dairy products. I won't eat cheese, yogurt, cream or drink milk, I find them all awful unless cooked into something.

13. I prefer going to the pub rather than a 'big night out', purely for the fact you can actually hear what you're saying and have more of a laugh. Also you can get cocktails at the pub... Nom.

14. I have an obsession with Converse shoes. I think I have 6 pairs, if not more. Unfortunately two of the pairs are falling apart I've had them so long.

15. I enjoy buying presents for people because it means my money is going on other people, rather than myself. Also looking for things I know they'll love and seeing their faces when they open their gift is priceless.

16. My lucky number is 3. I have too many reasons for this. My family seems to revolve around this number.

17. I love my brother and sister more than anything in the entire world. I'm not an angry person, but if anyone ever hurts them that all changes.

18. I am an IPhone kind of person. I don't know what I'd do without my baby. It has a name... "Vanilla Ice".... Inside jokes galore.

19. I hate wearing dressings gowns. I low how soft they are but they just annoy me a lot. I'll stick to a hoodie thanks very much.

20. In high school my group of friends were the outcasts who got teased a lot. By sixth form we were the most popular group and we always had to steal chairs and tables so we could sit next to each other at lunch.

21. I have an obsession with sugar skulls. I find them so interesting and pretty. When I get a place of my own it'll be full of them.

22. I met my best friend on the first day of work. Our manager always gets us mixed up despite the fact we look entirely different. We dressed up as thing 1 and 2 for Halloween.

23. I honestly don't know how I would cope without music. As cheesy as that sounds, music calms me, makes me happy, excited me... Gives me all the feels. Please don't ask me who my favourite artist is. I don't know. Too many.

24. Skittles is my favourite alcoholic beverage. It's bright green and super sweet and tasty. I'm pretty sure it's only a northern thing because nowhere else I go in the UK ever serves it.

25. I'm a very clumsy person. Everyday I have a new cut or bruise without knowing where it came from. I do know however that I walk into tables more often than O should.

There we go! I hope you learnt a little more about me, of course there's a lot more i could write. If you have any questions or suggestions for this blog just leave them down below!

TRESemme Colour Thrive Blonde Review~

Hey Hi Hello!

I'm not really one to care about the products I use on my hair, whatever my mam buys I use, but this product has changed that. It's called the TRESemme Colour Thrive for blonde hair.

Before this I used the Bristows silver shampoo because my mam found it, but it didn't really stop the brassiness of the blonde hair dye, despite the fact it was meant to be a good product I felt it made my hair worse rather than better.

I took it upon my self to go to Boots and hunt down a nice shampoo for blonde coloured hair, originally I was going to buy a Tony & Guy product, but there was a major price difference between those hair products and these.

The first thing I noticed about these were the packaging and the volume of product, also they were on a buy one get one half price offer. I don't know how much I paid exactlly but for both it was around £5, compared to the £12 I would have paid for Tony & Guy.

I honestly love these products! My hair has stayed bright platinum blonde with no brassy tones and it feels mega soft all the time. I also like the smell of it, it feelsd proffesional and clean, rather than fruity, which I much prefer.

Using the products together is an amazing combo, but when I used the shampoo alone by hair didn't at all feel soft, it felt more straw-like than it did with an ordinary shampoo, I'm guessing it's the conditioner that actually does all of the work.  I would recommend using both products together rather than one alone, because the results, although the colour was still nice and vibrant, were just so much better. My hair is nice and soft and shiny, despite the amount of hair dye and bleach in has endured over then last 6 or so years and I love it! Is it weird to keep stroking my own hair? Probably...

I give this duo 5 stars out of five, using alone I will give three stars, just because of the lack of soft hair as an end result.

Have you guys tried these?

January Fashion Favourites~

Hey Hi Hello!
I may be a week late with this post but hey, I figured I would show you guys what some of my favourite fashion related favourites have been over the last month. Some things I got for christmas so I don't know where they're from, if I do I'll link them under neath the images.
Let us start up top, with a new shirt.
Primark - £12
This is a cute denim look shirt with sheer white sleeves with a heart pattern. The sleeve cuffs are also in demin. It's so cute and girly and can be paired with virtually anything, a skater skirt, nice leggings, high waisted jeans would look good too. It's slightly longer at the back than the front which I like, it just fits really nicely. If you're wanting to wear this as a fitted shirt I would buy a size down, they're fairly baggy. For £12 I think it's a bargain.
Up next it the necklace I pair with it.
A thousand daisies Necklace
Isn't this the cutest thing ever? It's a gorgous pastel purple colour heart, so kitch and sweet. I tend to wear it under a collared top, just to jazz up an outfit. Unfortunatly this style of necklace sold out but you should definatly check out the website for the stunning t-shirts, prints, totes and notebooks. I'm lusting over a notebook despite not really having anything to write in it.
Next up is a good old beanie hat. I'm sure you know about my obsession with them already, but I just love them, they compliment any outfit.
Neon hat - H&M : Red and black hat - Primark Strawberry hat- my grandma
These are the three I have been constantly wearing. How cute is the strawberry hat?! My grandma made it and I freaking adore it! Yes it does look more like an apple...shhhh. The bottom one is showing up more yellow but trust me, it's a bright bright lime green which I think is also going to be great in the summer months, purely because of the colour.
If there are two things I love it's English Language and Bags, and oh boy, my friend got me the best present ever for Christmas.
It's a bag which has bag written on it but phonetically. Ahhhhhhhhh it's perfect. Despite the fact I can't really write phonetically I straight away understood it. We have rather stupid inside jokes and this just reminds me of all of the laughs we've had in class. I mainly use this when I go shopping, then I can simply shove in all the carrier bags instead of carrying millions of bags around.
Finally we have my trusty pair of converse, which are unfortunetly falling apart. RIP.
These shoes have served me well for around 5 years, you can't see by this photo but they have many rips and holes in them now. They're one of my all time favourite staples because they match pretty much anything, well, in my mind they do.
What are your fashion favourites?
